Office 365: Groups

Office 365 Groups lets you collaborate with a group of co-workers, classmates, or others who share your passions by setting up a collection of resources for your group to share, such as email conversations, file sharing, task assignments, and a group calendar.

Microsoft Groups is free for all Texas State students, faculty, and staff as part of Office 365. Look for the checkmark icon in your Office 365 apps.

Get started with Groups

Creating a new Group is easy.

  1. Log in to Office 365.
  2. Click the People app.
  3. Under Groups, Click the +.
  4. Follow the prompts to create your new Group.

The real advantage of Groups over using email distribution lists is that a Group becomes a collaborative working space, where you can share files, and everyone in the Group can start conversations with everyone else. What was once a one-way communication becomes an interactive, collaborative work group.

For more information on starting a Group, go to Microsoft's Group support page.
